Haiti Earthquake Relief
Poor earthquake centered near the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince led to the collapse of several buildings and an unknown number of casualties Tuesday. Earthquake measured 7.0 on the Richter scale and at least 1.8 million people live in the area where the earthquake had the highest intensity. Obama say on Tuesday “thoughts and prayers” are with the people of Haiti. “We are closely monitoring the situation and we are ready to help the people of Haiti,” Obama said in a statement. An earthquake struck the poor Caribbean nation of Haiti last night, causing what is said the first reports of damage in the densely populated area of the capital Port-au-Prince with a single hospital between many of the buildings are said to have collapsed.
